01 / THE ROLE

In this lab.

Homepage provides an internal overview and more detailed service views. It includes application links and selected API-backed widgets, including compact FreshRSS subscription/unread information and AdGuard statistics. It is a navigation and summary surface, while Zabbix remains the monitoring platform.

03 / How it works

How it works.

Configuration describes groups, services and widgets. A link may work even if its widget cannot authenticate, and a page shell can render before its service data is loaded. I therefore check the application’s service-data response as well as the initial HTML when changing the dashboard.

04 / Persistent data & recovery

Persistent data & recovery.

The layout and service configuration can be rebuilt from source. Widget credentials belong in protected runtime configuration and should not be copied into the repository or screenshots. Homepage does not replace the backups of the applications to which it links.

05 / How to check it

How to check it.

Validate navigation, loaded service data, widget responses and the page on relevant screen sizes. A tile is not a guarantee that the linked service’s authenticated function is working. Check that each URL actually serves the expected application.

06 / Decisions & limits

Decisions & limits.

Combining links and summaries reduces daily friction, but can hide inaccurate or stale endpoints. Clear separation between a convenient overview and operational monitoring avoids treating a nice dashboard as a health guarantee.
